Transmission of vertical vibration through a seat cushion at the seat pan: Effect of foam physical properties during different excitation magnitudes

The vibration characteristics of car seats directly influence the ride comfort. Polyurethane foam is key part a seat, and its physical parameters have an important impact on seat. In this study, thickness hardness seat cushion with different excitation magnitudes was investigated by using transmissibility effective amplitude (SEAT) value. First, tests were carried out at vertical simulator width-limited white noise frequencies from 0.5 to 20 Hz root-mean-square (r.m.s.) values 0.4, 0.8, 1.2 m/s 2 , acceleration platform body-foam interfaces measured calculate transmissibility, properties analyzed. Then, SEAT value introduced assess isolation efficiency cushion, With increasing decreasing pan, peak increased resonance frequency decreased. show that beneficial improvement but there diminishing return; combination low high could make performance better. addition, nonlinearity human-seat system during magnitude found.
